Sub-competence E3 examines how you integrate environmental considerations into your engineering solutions to support Net Zero targets. As an IEng practitioner, you must balance economic goals with resource efficiency and carbon reduction. Describe an instance where you reduced material waste, selected recycled or sustainable components, optimised energy usage, or mitigated environmental contamination on site.
E4: Carry Out and Record CPD
Sub-competence E4 focuses on your Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Engineering technology evolves rapidly; failing to update your skills creates operational risks. Explain how you maintain a structured Development Action Plan (DAP), review your learning needs annually, and complete technical training, regulatory courses, or mentoring hours to keep your engineering capabilities sharp.

Structure your application using the STAR Methodology (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to present a clean narrative for your Professional Review Interview (PRI). Ensure your Action section explicitly outlines your personal ethical decisions, safety interventions, and sustainability steps. Quantify your Result section to demonstrate measurable improvements in safety records, carbon savings, or skill enhancements.
